Bakers Delicious is an apple with a misleading name as it is an eater and not a baker. Named after Baker’s Nursery of Codsall, Wolverhampton who first introduced the apple in 1932. Handsome, large round-conical fruit. Bright orange flush over gold skin. Good cropper. Resistant to scab and mildew but susceptible to canker so needs well drained soil.
Originated: UK 1932
Flowering Group: 2 (Pollinated by varieties from groups 1, 2 or 3)
